New play at the Edinburgh Festival

Berkoff An Actor's Lament

 Berkoff's new play, An Actor's Lament, premieres at the Edinburgh Festival.

"Three actors experience the frustration and madness that can be everyday life for the working actor in Steven Berkoff's satire on the industry".

It is at the Assembly Hall, Edinburgh from 24 Sept- 26 Oct 2013.

Jermyn Street Theatre in London present a month long festival of Berkoff's work from 24 Sept- 26 Oct 2013.

The plays being performed are Guilt, Roast, Line-Up, How to Train an Anti-Semite and Gas.  The actors are Anthony Barclay, Lucy Hollis, Tom Lincoln, Clive Mendus and Gillian Wright.  Berkoff and Max Barton direct.

"We present Steven Berkoff: Religion and Anarchy. In a five week season, working alongside the theatre's associate director Max Barton, the legendary maverick of British theatre will co- direct his visceral one act plays as well as performing in some of them. Eight of his plays will be produced in rep. These will include his epic poem "Requiem for Ground Zero", which he will perform once a week. Alongside the fully produced plays, there will be a series of readings of his other one-act plays and at least 20 of his works will feature in the season."

Greek opera in London

The Royal Opera House in London present a revival of Greek, Mark-Anthony Turnage’s opera based on Steven Berkoff’s verse play from 1988.  The production is by Music Theatre Wales and director Michael McCarthy.  It is on from 21-26 Oct 2013.  Click on the image for more details.

Strip Theatre presents Lunch at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, London from 8- 14 Jul 2013.

"A man, a woman and an unwanted sandwich. Stephen Berkoff’s Lunch explores the collision of small talk between two strangers stranded on a sunny seaside bench. Their seemingly inane chitchat slowly dismantles one another’s hidden desires and inner anxieties and as the pressure begins to mount, no one quite gets what they bargained for."
