2008. Artistic Director Adrian Osmond says: ‘How do you deliver the
intensity and honesty of Kane’s writing to an audience? Many of the techniques
that theatre uses to distance the audience, to remind them it is imaginary,
don’t belong here. Instead, we’re recording a range of people to build a
soundscape out of the text. Our aim is to create the sensation of a mind teeming
with voices, the countless parts of the persona. We want to reach beyond
individual case history as well, and highlight that people from all areas of
society, of all ages, are affected by mental illness.’
