Language in 4:48. I've just finished directing it (birmingham 17th - 19th April). What we found was that sarah often uses words for their rhythm, more than their meaning: phonics over semantics. Sometimes she even creates a tension between what is being said and how she expresses it. I love it.

I am curently studying Sarah Kane and her use of language. I aim to expose the functions of language in her plays beyond merely the dissemination of information. I am most particularly interested in 4.48 psychosis, the format of this play is most intriguing. If anybody has any oppinions or information regarding this subject I would be most grateful. Thanks a lot.
