Re. your question to Base 1,2,3,4, bingo... Im pretty sure its a reference to sex. You know, base one, "holding hands"...etc. ES3 is a hospital ward no. and a company that delivers food Meals on Wheels style to those bedridden etc...MNO still dont know either... 199714424. Eludes me too. Could it be a social security no?

i am currently in a production of Crave. in it we have used "David" in reference to both "A" and "B". when "M" calls to "B" as "David", and when "C" begins to describe her sexual assault: C: "....the metal barred climbing frame between my legs, David.." A: "NO."

QED is a Latin abbreviation (Quod erat demonstrandum- "that which has been demonstrated").

It was used by mathematicians and scientists, who wrote at the end of their calculations after proving a theory.

So in Crave it means "that proves it".

This still means the lines in Crave could refer to the bases as used to denote sexual progress, which I think is quite likely.

umm.. your a bit wrong form a boys perspective. i know because i asked my boyfriend. batting is kissing and making out. 1st is hands up shirt. 2nd is hands down pants. 3rd is oral sex and home is sex. the whole theory of 1st holding hands is way wrong. sorry to burst your bubble.

Thanks very much to both you and Jess for your input. The base 1, etc is a definite possibility. Baseball references to sexual conquests are/were popular at one time in america. I thought it might also have something to with drugs? But I like the sexual reference better. And I have the feeling that Jess is quite correct with the number being a hospital I.D. tag. As for the name of David. I was wondering if it was a biblical reference to David of King David fame and the reference to looking for him as over the city as meaning the city of Jerusalem which is the city of David. Might be reading too much into the biblical with that though. Thanks again. Bruno

Another theory about the Number:

When I was at uni our Student ID Numbers began with our year of enrolment.

Perhaps one of the hospitals Sarah was admitted to in 1997 had a similar system, and so 199714424 was her patient ID number?

Thanks for cracking the 'Bingo' code, you're probably right as it is a play about sex/love/relationships.

David could be B's name?

As for the number, perhaps something happened in Sarah's life at 4.21 am on 4 January 1997 ?

ES3 is a ward Sarah was on during one of her spells in hospital.

4) Base 1 Base 2 Base 3 Bingo!, could be a baseball/date sucsess analagy, as used in lots of things. In base ball you run between the three bases then home, hence bingo! In the film 'Twins' Danny DeVito discribes a date like baseball, "Base 1, you hold hands. Base 2 you kiss. Base 3 you get a little feel, then Bingo!" Though I could be wrong.

There has already been a discusion of the Number... though we havent found it out yet! Could have been the backstage door code at the Bridewell that week :)

ES3 is the universaty in 'Cleansed' isn't it?
