It's not a telephone number. Please don't ring permutations of it, as some poor sod would probably get annoyed by the unwanted calls.

I've always believed 1997 to mean the year, especially as, as you say, that was the year of her broken affair that led to the play. Elsewhere on this board I've tried to work out the significance of the other numbers (date, time?) - your theory is as good as any.

I believe that this is not a telephone number. I think that the telephone number is MNO and stops there(6).She doesn't want to call anymore. I believe that this has to do with the year 1997, the year of the love that killed Sarah, in N.Y. and then the other refers to the number of days spent together in an 24 hour day base.

Well I think the Edigburgh one is inaccurate, acctually it's missing the last two didget's. Plus it has a a correction slip as some lines are missed out... Maybe I should have recheaked befour typeing, as I remeber thinking it was wring then… D`oh :)

That's strange, as my Royal Court 1998 programme (signed by Her), which I always thought was the same as the one from Edinburgh, and the Complete Works have the same number.

Well, I tried ringing it with a zero added at the beginning (all British telephone numbers begin with 0) but alas, it doesn't exist.

In the Dutch version of Crave, called Hunker, which I just saw, the number is "translated" into a Dutch mobile phone number. Unfortunately I could only remember the first numbers otherwise I would have rung it!!

From what I can gather it was a number of some personal significance to Sarah, so the only people who know what it means are the actors (to whom she explained the play, and who keep all the secret meanings secret to this day), Vicky Featherstone, Mel Kenyon, Simon Kane and any friends she may have confided in.
