Scenes that seem to stand out in my mind, also demonstrating Russell's absolute mastery of music
and images.

-Tchaikovsky's memory of summer in 'The Music Lovers' while performing the second movement of his
piano concerto is a wonderfully edited sequence.

-The sequence in 'Mahler' where Alma silences the countryside for her husband while he composes.

-The dance of the seven veils in 'Salome's Last Dance'

- Hermione's overwrought dance with Gudrun and Ursula in 'Women in Love' which turns into a ragtime.

- The Chaplin sequence in 'Lisztomania' played out to the composer's Liebestraum.

My five best (off the top of my head, so next week it will be different)

- the end of Savage Messiah when Ken shows the works of Gaudier
- the scenes composing the music in Song of Summer
- the opening of Mahler with the rocks and the fire
- 1812 sequence from The Music Lovers
- Aria with the nurses and surgeon

Interesting (for me) is that although The Devils is one of Ken's best, I can't think of a single scene I would put in the top ten.  That doesn't diminish my love of the film.

I also agree with your choices, though I am less keen on Lair.

The most common request for photos I get is for images from the beans sequence in Tommy.

Here are what I consider the five best scenes from Russell's films.

Mine

"Women in Love" Most implicit
Rupert Birkin (Alan Bates) discussing the proper manner to consume a fig.

"Tommy" Best visualization
"Pinball Wizard"

"The Rainbow" Hottest!
Any scene with Amanda Donohoe in it.

"The Music Lovers" Funniest!
"The 1812 Overture"

"The Lair of the White Worm" Most erotic
The scenes with Lady Sylvia Marsh (Amanda Donohoe) and a boy scout called Kevin (Chris Pitt)
Despite . . .
a. the victim being underaged
b. the victim being sexually assaulted
c. the victim being murdered in the end

These were harder to do, as different people call different scenes by different names, but if these aren't considered by others to be the five best scenes in Russell's films, they are close to the top five.

Theirs

"Women in Love"
The nude wrestling

"Tommy"
Nora Walker (Ann-Margaret) being blased by baked beans, chocolate sauce, and soap bubbles.

"Lair of the White Worm"
The scenes with Lady Sylvia Marsh (Amanda Donohoe) and a boy scout called Kevin (Chris Pitt)

"The Devils"
Any scene with a nun or nuns in it.

And a tie for fifth . . .

"The Music Lovers"
"The 1812 Overture"

"Lair of the White Worm"
The airplane sequence
