« Reply #1 on: June 16, 2023, 12:42:54 AM »
A new book and a symposium.  The book is Refocus: the Films of Ken Russell, part of ReFocus: The International Directors Series, edited by Matthew Melia.

The symposium will include

- Stewart Williams (University of East Anglia) - The Making of a Disreputation: the construction and development of Ken Russell’s authorial-critical reputation
- Caroline Langhorst (De Monfort University) - Inner Voids and the Abyss?: Ken Russell, Performed Masculinities and Actor Collaborations in the Long 1960s
- Kevin Fullerton (Dundee University) - Architecture and Class Representation in Ken Russell's work from 1956 to 1971
- William Kitchen (University of Bournemouth) – Romanticism and Virtuosity: Tommy and Lisztomania
- Sawako Omori (Independent Scholar and Journalist) - Ken Russell as a cult director in Japan
- Matthew Melia (Kingston University) – Ken in the Archive: Unmade Ken Russell.
- Q and A with Lisi Russell and Roger Crittenden

The event will also remember Russell's work with the actor Murray Melvin – who passed away, aged 90, on 14th April 2023.  This event aims to bring the importance of his work with Russell into focus. This event is dedicated to him.

The symposium will be followed by the Book Launch panel and wine reception.  It will take place on Thursday 6 July 2023 in Kingston University Town House.

The book will be available to buy on the day with a 30% discount!!!
