I have an essay to do and the broader area is surrounding this question, How can theatre effectively address political problems in a historical or contemporary context? I want to write about such playwriters as Sarah kane and other new age dramatists who use political issues to convey dramatic irony onto stage, if that is what you can call it. I have read Blasted and Phaedra's love, and have also had the chance to discuss Theatre of Oppression with Aleks Sierz when he visited our uni. Problem is I am trying to choose a focused topic and title relevant to the module, involving Sarah Kane, because I am somewhat obsessed with her work at the moment. If anyone could shed light on a viewpoint that I could come from, I would be really grateful.
