Finale

The typical tasty concoction from Ken. One you'll long remember the taste of, long after you see it. Yet . . .?! there is something unsatisfactory and unfulfilling about it, as if one or more ingredients are missing from the recipe.

Next time: some interesting trivia from "Lair of the White Worm," that I want to burn off.

28:38 At least Ken feeds his actors before he tortures them.

30:07 Motif: More dancing to music ("Lair of the White Worm") but . . . here voluntarily instead of involuntarily as there.

34:13 Motif: Naked women ("The Rainbow")

48:09 Motif: Celibacy, but . . . one of the few times he has anything good to say about it.

Next time: the finale

19:01 Ken has a love-hate relationship with Wagner. He hates him, but . . .?! he loves to inflict his music on his audience.

19:02 Motif: dancing with the cows ("Women in Love")

22:07 Motif: food and eating ("Altered States")

27:10 Motif: comparison in black and white, but . . .?! here with some gray added. ("Mahler")

To be continued . . .

As strange as it may seem, Ken gets you to feel for the subject of this film and his other films.

11:23 No one is better at torturing his actors than Ken.

13:55 Motif: Sex + religion ("The Devils")

18:26 Ken has an eye for scenery and an ear for music. Thus, he combines what he hears with what he sees.

7:06 Strange indeed

7:32 Motif: water ("Savage Messiah") But . . .?! unlike that film, where the water is outdoors and in a fountain. This one is indoors and in a tub, and would be depicted several times during the film.

9:07 Motif: flashbacks ("The Music Lovers")

9:56 Motif: sand and/or the beach ("Tommy")

To be continued . . .

Ken's 5th and last film for "The South Bank Show."

Even by Ken's standards, a strange film.

The times are approximate and are not exact.

2:52 A farmer + a priest = Bruckner.

A simple composer compared to some of the other composers, such as Tchaikovsky, for which Ken has done films.

Thank-you for the link. I'll have to take a look at it, when I can, as it is one of Ken's films I have not seen neither. Thank-you again.

Somebody may have already posted this, but I wanted to let people know that "The Strange Affliction of Anton Bruckner" is available to view on youtube.  I pasted the link below.  I always get excited when I find one of Ken's television films that I haven't seen before.
