I am a 3rd year Drama student currently writing a dissertation on whether or not screen has effected or enhanced the way audiences view and access theatre. I am interested in why Steven Berkoff chose to record many of his performances including 'The trial' and 'Metamorphosis'. What could his possible reasons for doing this? whether it was to allow audiences who were unable/ less fortunate to see his creations live in order for them to experience his work in a second degree format, or was there more reason for this, educational purposes perhaps or for himself. What is it that is good about recorded theatre, what can it achieve, and what are the negatives proven and for oneself, Some answers would be great  :)
