In The Music Lovers Tchaikovsky tries to commit suicide in a river, but when he steps in the water is too shallow.

In The Devils Grandier (as Christ in a dream) walks on water.

The swimming pool in The Rainbow.

This is not meant to be a complete list of the uses of water in Ken's films, as some of them I have not seen, and others I have seen, but forgotten, but it is meant to be a list of the variety of waters that Ken uses in his films.

The Sea/the Ocean
"French Dressing" the seaside town
"Billion Dollar Brain" the frozen sea that turns into a deathtrap
"Tommy" the holiday camp by the sea.

The Bathtub
"The Music Lovers" the typhoid cure
"Lair of the White Worm" the drowning of the boy scout

The Water Hose
"Tommy" Tommy is tortured by being sprayed by a water hose
"Lair of the White Worm" the snake symbolic

The Lake
"Gothic" Byron's house by the lake
"Women in Love" the lovers drowning in the lake
"Mahler" Many lake scenes

The Pool
Where Ursula Brangwen and Winifred Inger first meet

The Rain
"Lair of the White Worm" which gets the boy scout into the car, which takes him to the house, where he gets into the tub, and where he drowns in the bath

Next time: "Ken Russell and the Dance"
