I had a look at it (Act II, page 77 in Plays 1).

My feeling is he is describing the dancing ("down the floor we skate") with other dancers around ("huge mountains of aching fleshy worlds are drifting past each other") through to the end of the dance ("the guitarist... crushes his final shattered chord") and they split with a "thank you very much/ OK".

But the dancing is very lustful, and sex is clearly on Mike's mind and probably Sylv's.  I think if it is performed you could/ should make the dancing very close to sex as is possible in public.

What do you think?  It was great looking at the scene again.

West is about to come out on DVD so you can see how Berkoff does it.

I don't have the book with me now, but I'll give my view shortly.

Hello!

Just studying West by Berkoff at University and loving it!

However I have a question about the scene that begins with Mike dancing with Sylv which begin with "Do you wanna dance / I took her on the floor / the crystal ball..."

Is Mike describing sex with Sylv in this monologue? I think so, but I haven't totally convinced myself yet. I guess it could be up for interpretation as well of course

Look forward to your thoughts!
