Title: Dorothea Tanning Jaidn
Post by: archive on August 15, 2007, 11:27:45 PM
Dose any one else find that the painting 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusic' by Dorothea Tanning remindes them of 'Cleansed'? It is a odd sureelist painting. A young girl walks along a corridor with her hair sticking straight up while a genderless doll leans in a doorway. Growing from the floor is a giant sunflower. There is a open door with a bright light behind, room 501. The painting looks alot like a Hopper gone mad.

Hi Jaidn,

I didnĀ“t know the painting, but I found it on the web http://mexplaza.udg.mx/wm/paint/auth/tanning/  (http://mexplaza.udg.mx/wm/paint/auth/tanning/)

and I see what you mean.

Well it struck me as I was looking up something in the Tate handbook about the time that 'Collected Works' came out. The copy on that site is a bit dark but you get the idea:)
