Post by: archive on August 22, 2007, 12:45:03 AM
a passage about drugs and their effects in 4.48 Psychosis, start with "diagnosis: pathological grief". Is that a British clinical psychology term? anyone with a know where i can find out what, exactly, it means? I know what pathological means and what grief means, but I've never heard the two put together as a diagnosis.

Anabelle, this comes about a year and four months since you posted your question. I suppose you have really answered your question yourself really. I have a Collins pocket english dictionary infront of me. 2000 Edition. In my mind about as good as dictionaries got was in 1998. And this one has a small stupid pictogram of a Roman building on it........PATHOGEN (n) thing that causes disease. PATHOLOGY (n) scientific study of diseases. Pathological (adj) 1. of pathology. 2. (informal) compulsively motivated. (As an aside) PATHOS (next after PATHOLOGY) (n) power of arousing pity or sadness. GRIEF (n) deep sadness. Come to grief - end unsuccessfully. Grieve (v) (cause to) feel grief. Grievance (n) real or imaginary cause for complaint. Grievous (adj) 1. very severe or painfull. 2. very serious. Well, put them together and see what you get. You may know something of this after this year or so. Just listen to the bloody television. If you care about language and the use of language, whatever that form is, lierature (just seen how I spelt that) errrr, literature, sound, form, idea, intent, will, interpretation, use of land, etc, etc, Ahhhhhh, human kicks, God...........(which one?), then dissapointment will have some mass, err weight. Yep, "theft is the holy act". British Clinical Psychology has been around since f*ck knows when. Probably as long as parasites. No need to encourage it. GET RID OF THAT BLEACH. Last time I explained Pathological Grief was to a policeman after I was picked up for being passed out, pissed by a bridge. This was in the morning after my prints were taken at the station. Still got an expensive bill for the bed and breakfast though. The use of "Pathological grief" in the text of 4:48 Psychosis is using the language that Clinical Psycologists will understand. (Hopefully). Whatever that persons' beliefs are. And there is the problem. Satre called it the Nausea. Burroughs called it the Sickness. The Sex Pistols called it the Vomit. Kane called it 4:48 Psychosis. It's been called Stinking Feeling. It's been expressed in loads of ways. How can one deal with a torturers' hard-on? (And females get them too). Well, there you go. Something like that. Get with the apes. OOOOOHH OOOOOOHHHHH.
