Title: site redesign
Post by: Iain Fisher on November 28, 2010, 09:00:08 PM
I am slowly redesigning the site.  The films have been partially completed- to come are larger photos where appropriate and easier navigation.

Comments welcome.

You asked for comments. So far the changes made for the redesign look good. Thus, I can't wait for the other changes to the site.

As for "French Dressing," which I must admit, I haven't seen in its entirity. It is interesting that Alita Naughton as Judy would so closely parallel the character of Tadzio in appearance in Visconti's version of "Death in Venice." Of course, one can't accuse Russell of copying Visconti, as "French Dressing" would come some years before "Death in Venice."

But in Russell's "Mahler," which would come in 1974 or some three years after "Death in Venice," we not only get another "Tadzio," but also a "von Aschenbach" recreating one of the scenes from "Death in Venice." Which raises the question, what was Russell's fascination for the character of Tadzio in his films?
