The intro to 'Scottish Painters' shows the two Roberts travelling in a horse and cart while 'Lincolnshire Posy plays on the soundtrack; anyone have any idea where this version comes from? Perhaps it was recorded especially for the film. Frederick Fennells version is contemporaneous- and considered to be definitive- but it doesn't seem to be that.

Interesting question. I'm away for a few days but when I am back I'll watch it again. I doubt I will know the answer but I'll check some books as well. Iain

To my ears the version on the film sounds too rustic to be the Fennell

Just discovered a good version online

Well I've had no joy coming up with a source for the recording. I guess it must have been recorded by a BBC band for the soundtrack. It's taken at a much slower pace than the Fennel recording of the time and I quite like that.
