The Bridewell Theatre present The Sea by Edward Bond from 17-21 Nov 2009.
The director is Ruth Sullivan and their description of the play is "An exciting and unusual play set in a claustrophobic Norfolk town in 1907. Through the rich and colourful characters it examines the dynamics of a community torn apart by tragedy - the death of a young local man. Unexpected reactions are provoked with hilarious yet heart-rending consequences in a fascinating blend of dark comedy and social satire. And perhaps above all, the sea is ever present - cleansing, renewing, evolving...".
Bridewell are amateur company but considerably better than most and they come up with interesting choices of plays. The Sea was on the West End of London last year, a rare comedy (of sorts) from Bond.
