It is marvellous that Ken's "The Devils" has been restored and released.
The retrospectives are, rightly, piling up, and thank you for keeping us all informed. I recall Ken sharing that "The Devil's" was an exhausting, creatively draining shoot. The next film had to be something more fun and lighter. What better than a musical? "The Boyfriend" turned out to be an even worse experience. So you never can tell. It takes courage to be creative. Ken had courage in spades.
Ongoing, the third in my trilogy of dream films is now up on my website. This may interest a few of you here. So you now have the new one, "Sommarøy" with its' two companion films, "Hessdalen" and "Moskstraumen." Travel and dreams and legends. All we inherit and stand on. Other work does go on and I will happily update when appropriate. In the meantime, this flying visit.
Please keep up the great work. All of you Keep Your Sense of Wonder.
We are coming up to the Celtic New Year, which many of you will know as Halloween. An important event to us older Celts. So may I wish you all "Bliadhna mhath ùr!".
Ken wanted a Viking burial, burning ship and all. Of course the "authorities" would't allow it. He also had an idea to be burnt on a Pyre on the shores of Derwentwater, as seen in his film "Gothic". That was nixed too. Tom Skerrit from "Alien" (1979) just passed. He should be shot out into space in an ideal world. There are still a few of us left from "Alien", but not many. Better to be eaten by wolves. Or the Loch Ness Monster. Ken had the right idea.
Take care, guys. More down the line.
Keep on keeping on, Iain.
