I talked briefly a couple of times with Georgina Hale.  A nice sincere person.  She says she doesn't like seeing herself on the screen but comes to events like this to support Ken.

In the short public discussion she said Ken is a good director of actors, he gives 101% and he expects 101%, but he is always open to ideas.  Actors can make suggestions and Ken listens then decides either to go with it or stick to the original.

Just back from Chichester.  They showed Dance of the Seven Veils then Mahler.  Ken and his wife Lisi were there and also Georgina Hale.

I chatted briefly to Georgina (nice person) and a lot with Lisi.  Ken is still ill, in a wheelchair, and does get confused quickly.  His short term memory is poor so he forgets what he is asked.  I told him everyone in the hall loved both films and he said he was glad.

More soon....

Well, I never thought I'd get to see this one!

It’s lineage into The Music Lovers, The Devils, Mahler and Lisztomania is clear (even detecting a few visual devices of Valentino too) and a neat stepping-stone into the cavorting nuns and slam-dunk iconography of the films to come – bliss.

Subtle as a brick, but an effective shredding of a reputation and unusual in that respect for a Russell biopic as his contempt for most aspects of his subject's life and music are critiqued so powerfully.

Ken Russell's 'Dance of the Seven Veils' is on YouTube. Check it out before
the Strauss's find out...

I'm not sure where it's sourced from: it appears to be a video copy from an old
print (there's burned-in timecode at the bottom of the screen).

Thanks to the kind soul who posted it!

Here's the link.
