I was at a talk by Gary Taylor on the Jacobean playwright Middleton.  Taylor edited "The Collected Works of Thomas Middleton" and his talk was really good, combining humour with real scholarly insight.  I'd love to write more on Middleton but it is off-topic.  However...

Maybe only of passing interest, Taylor quoted Bond as saying Middleton was second only to Shakespeare. Remember Bond wrote his own play Restoration a modern restoration play.  I saw it in in Stratford-upon-avon by the Royal Shakespeare Company as part of their restoration celebration. I am not sure if the RSC commissioned the work or not, because Bond is reported to dislike the main British companies such as the RSC and the National Theatre (where I saw Gary Taylor speak).
