Paul Scofield has died aged 86.

His most famous role was in the film A Man for all Seasons, 1966, for which he won an Oscar.  But he was deep down a Shakespearean actor, and there is an excellent DVD of him playing King Lear under the direction of Peter Brook.

And of course he appeared in the premiere of Fugard's rarely performed play Dimetos.
