Since this was first done in 1987, or 24 years ago, it'd be interesting to see whether any of Ken's selections have changed over the years.

Desert Island Discs is a BBC radio programme, running since 1942.  Each week a celebrity has to imagine he will be standed on a desert island, and what 10 records would they want with them.

Ken's choice was:

1. Larry Kent & Broadway Orchestra / Something's Coming

2. Cicely Courtneidge & Orchestra / If I Had Napoleon's Hat (Aunt Sally)

3. Arnold Bax / The Garden Of Fand / Royal Philharmonic Orchestra / Sir Thomas Beecham

4. Ella Fitzgerald & Nelson Riddle Orchestra / By Strauss

5. Sir Edward Elgar / Symphony No. 2 in E flat major / London Philharmonic Orchestra

6. Gustav Mahler / Der Trunkene im Frühling (from Das Lied von der Erde) / Rene Kolllo, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

7. D'Indy / On A French Mountain / Robert Casadesus, Philadelphia Orchestra

8. Mel Tormé / Mountain Greenery / Artist: Al Porcino & Orchestra

If he was only allowed one of these it would be the Mahler.
He is also allowed a book- Ken chose The Prelude by William Wordsworth, and a luxury item- a quart of brandy.  You are also allowed a bible (or other religious text) but Ken refused this.

It was broadcast on 22 Feb 1987.  The link is here
