A good trailer, though we don't see anything of the performance itself.  Do you have more on the production?

Crave UK tour

Actors Touring Company Crave on tour.  It is directed by Ramin Gray, designed by Lizzie Clachan with lighting by Charles Balfour and sound by Alex Caplen.

"A startling quartet of anger, desire, frustration and despair.   4 performers embody the competing voices of a mind in torment and ecstasy.   Sarah Kane's Crave is a contemporary classic, a ground-breaking work that challenges notions of what makes a play.   Actors Touring Company takes a fresh look at this landmark of modern international theatre in a major new production for the twenty-first century."

The dates are:

29- 30 Mar 2012 North Wall Arts Centre
31 Mar 2012 Lincoln Performing Arts Centre
3– 5 Apr 2012 Northern Stage
19- 21 Apr 2012 Manchester Royal Exchange Studio
24- 28 Apr 2012 The Wickham Theatre, University of Bristol

Crave in Dublin
« Reply #7 on: November 23, 2011, 09:33:12 AM »
DU Players in Dublin present Crave.  The director is Darren Sinnott and the actors are Matthew Malone (A), Cameron Miller (B), Breffni Holahan (C) and Maeve O’Mahony (M).  It is on 21- 26 Nov 2011.

"Kane’s Crave, devoid of stage direction and determined narrative, tracks the stream of conscious of four characters as they grapple with guilt, anxiety, sexual depravity, depression and their personal struggle for meaning."

Crave in Massachusetts
« Reply #6 on: September 04, 2011, 06:06:09 PM »
The Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club present Crave on 30 Sept, 1-8 Oct 2-11.  The director is Nasir Husain and the producer is Danielle Drees.

"A creative mind is on the verge of collapse. Wrenched apart by unrequited love and unfulfilled longing, its four fragmented voices reverberate with trauma as they struggle to achieve harmony. A would-be mother. A recovering addict. An abused girl. A lovelorn pedophile. These wounded figures share a single life, devoted to the painstaking task of written expression. Sarah Kane's richly lyrical and vividly imagistic text is the story of their last breaths, their final furious attempts at articulation before inevitable, ultimate silence. Experimenting with theatrical form, Kane furthers her exploration of themes like obsessive desire and brutality in love by depicting the devastation they inflict on the internal landscape of a mind."

It is on at Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Details are here

Another review, from dcist.

"There are only two ways to engage with CRAVE. Either you set yourself at an appreciative distance, admire the passionate efforts of the actors and then walk out at the end as if you had just watched a well-performed string quartet, your day proceeding as normal. Or you can connect to it, and be deeply affected."

"...This production of her other poetic, non-narrative work, CRAVE, is not quite the equal of that previous one, firstly because it doesn't strike quite as wide a range of emotional notes, and secondly because the occasional bit of staging seems forced. Nevertheless, it is still deeply moving. The four performers (Elizabeth Hansen, Christopher Herring, Joey Long and Mary Myers) under Jon Jon Johnson's direction are all devoted to the material and completely believable. Their clear understanding of what is going on helps carry the audience along even during sections where the actual meaning of the words gets murky, and all five deserve total praise for maintaining the balance between fearlessness and self-control."

"...it presents a whirlwind of dialogues and interactions -- plotless, but intimately familiar. It thus acts, in the director's words, as a mirror, to reflect your own experiences back to you. It's up to you whether you want to examine what is reflected, or whether you want to move aside and simply observe the actors throwing themselves about emotionally."

A review by Jenn Larsen of the Washington DC Crave.

"Every heartbreaker eventually gets their heart broken. Cosmic justice, karma, the wheel of fortune – whatever you call it, the seesaw of relationships will always go from up to down and back again. But there’s a journey there, from paradise to hell and all the shades of grey in between..."

"Sarah Kane’s extraordinary play Crave dives into that ebb and flow, the descent from attraction to repulsion, the rise and decline of the chemistry that drives our desires. And above all, the fact that we cannot escape our pasts, that wounds don’t ever truly heal, and that maybe, just maybe, we don’t really want them to – that pain is more compelling than fulfillment."

"...It’s meant perhaps to remind us that we are all capable of being like these characters, but with the actors just telegraphing emotions rather than intentions from the start – especially a loud dose of contempt – it simply alienates. They are intensely and admirably committed, but their characters’ journeys lack clarity."

"...director Jon Jon Johnson gives his actors nowhere to go. It’s one note on one level for an excruciating hour or so, the same swath of contempt slashed over everyone, which has the effect of separating the audience from Kane’s exquisite text. Physically, emotionally, intentionally – everyone’s trapped, and the words were lost..."

Crave will be performed on 12- 24 Jul 2011 at The Shop–at Fort Fringe in Washington, DC.

"Crave is an insight into the darker, more obsessive parts of romantic relationships. Told by a quartet of four voices in a fragmented, jarring style, Crave brings to life the most brutal parts of love in surprising, poetic clarity..."
