Blasted- Jess Cully
« Reply #1 on: August 15, 2007, 03:34:17 PM »
Saw Blasted for the first time last night, and excellently performed it was too. I've read the play about 20 times but the printed page never once came close to actually experiencing it live. Congratulations to all the cast and production team. The best thing about the evening was that all the audience took the play absolutely seriously, before, between the scenes and after all I heard from audience members were earnest discussions about the play and Sarah generally. The woman sitting next to me had clearly heard of her but had no experience of her work, after Scene 1 she said with feeling "Such a f*4&ing waste" (too f*4&ing right, I wanted to say) and at the end she was unable to move, completely overwhelmed. After the play I found Sarah's memorial seat, the people who had been sitting in that row noticed me paying homage and asked what I was doing. I explained, and the lady who'd been sitting there was delighted.
