I am a french student in a theatre school in Paris, and one of the play we are dealing with is CLEANSED I read it and I'm interesting in playing it.
I encounter difficulties with the didascalies. How to deal with it? I am not junkie, i dont want to cut my hands... But sarah wrote such actions, indeed, my question is: What does these didascalies mean?
My second question is what is trash? A large part of the play is trash, but not all the play. Choosing a scene that is not trash, a scene with neither sex nor drug, is avoiding the problem and is not interesting. I am somewhat lost with it. How to deal with this text?
(I have never seen a play from Sarah KANE on stage).
Thank you by advance, Lionel
