It seemed wholly inappropriate for the play, and I wanted the audience to keep the feeling they had at the end of the play out into the 'real world'. After the lights faded down, there was a very tense silence. The house lights came up, and the silence continued. Eventually, someone would start clapping, and some others would join in, but quite a few simply sat in quiet contemplation of what they had just experienced. Watching the audience during these moments was one of the greatest moments of theatre i have ever seen!
