Harold Pinter on Desert Island Discs
« Reply #1 on: April 24, 2011, 12:42:43 PM »
Desert Island Discs is a BBC radio programme, running since 1942.  Each week a celebrity has to imagine he will be standed on a desert island, and what 10 records would they want with them.  Harold Pinter appeared on 14 Jun 1965.

Pinter's choice was:

1. Johann Sebastian Bach / Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 in B flat major / Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, August Wenzinger

2. Johann Sebastian Bach / Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major / Janos Starker

3. Charlie Parker / Funky Blues

4. The Modern Jazz Quartet / Pyramid

5. Thelonious Monk & Gerry Mulligan / Round Midnight

6. Miles Davis / Flamenco Sketches

7. Johann Sebastian Bach / Brandenburg Concerto No 6 in B Flat Major / Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, August Wenzinger

8. Ludwig van Beethoven / String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132 / Budapest String Quartet

If he was only allowed one of these it would be the Beethoven.
He is also allowed a book- Pinter chose an Anthology of 16th, 17th and 18th-century poetry, and a luxury item- writing materials.
